Lot Essay

For a pair in a similar shape and border, see D. Howard, J. Ayers, China for the West, New York, 1978, II, p. 544, no. 558, where the authors note that 'in their shape and ornamental borders they follow English porcelain models (which in turn derive from Meissen), and most closely resemble wares made c.1760-1770 at the English factory of Derby'.
