Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Please note antique textiles exhibit wear, losses, soiling and tears from normal use and repurposing. Some elements are re-pieced together with complimentary or contemporaneous textiles to mend.
The skirts with elaborate embroidery and fine pleating. The silk damask on each with some light soiling and fading. There are very minor areas of fraying to the silk threads. Separation along the hem lines to the interior silk lining. Minor small holes and tears concentrated in this area. Overall general soiling from use, particularly to the bottom hem. The pale blue skirt with small repairs to tears. The lilac skirt with some watermarks scattered.
Christie’s strongly suggests viewing this lot in person. You may wish to contact a professional textile conservator with any additional questions as we are unable to provide in-depth condition analysis.
