Lot Essay

In 1938 Benois worked on a revival of the three-act opera by French composer Jules Massenet (1842-1912) Le Jongleur de Notre Dame at La Scala, Milan. The opera premiered in 1902 at the Opéra Garnier in Monte-Carlo.
