The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The 'Turtle-Back' tile shades are well-matched and present with a warm amber glow with the central 'Turtle-Back' tile appearing with a darker butterscotch tone. The glass with minute inclusions, minor irregularities, and scattered air bubbles inherent in the making. One shade with two tiles that have been reset. The other shade with one tile that has been reset; another tile with a crack along the shorter edge (approximately 1⁄2 in.); a minute (less than 1⁄4 in.) light leak along the edge of the central 'Turtle-Back' tile; a minute break to the lead line that joins the longer edge with the central 'Turtle-Back' tile; and a minor surface abrasion (approximately 3⁄8 in.) to the lead line with consequential wear to the gilt finish. The shades with light surface scratches and minor surface dirt. The metal surfaces on the shades and bases with scattered areas of wear and light oxidation, typical with aging of this material. The metal fixtures with minor separation to the two plates that make up the split canopy. The prongs that the shades rest on are slightly askew. With sockets that appear to be original with GE Co. paddle switches. Overall presents well and ready for display.
