An Indian brocaded 'Bizarre' silk with mauve, pink, berry, maroon, greens and yellows, of ribboned leafy vinery with large flowers, 19th century: four examples, one pieced -- two panels 215⁄8 in. (54.9 cm.) wide, 371⁄8 in. (94.3 cm.) long, 215⁄8 in. (54.9 cm.) wide, 593⁄8 in. (150.8 cm.) long, and 215⁄8 in. (54.9 cm.) wide, 59 in. (149.9 cm.) long. Overall with areas of discoloration including some fading and spot-staining. The grounds with the ghost of a diamond lattice pattern; the polychrome silk embroidery floss with scattered areas of rubbing and losses, revealing the ground beneath. Each panel with fraying and rolling to the ends and selvage edges. The pieced example well matched.
An English or Dutch silk brocaded with pink, cream, mauve and green, of large lush flowerheads and leaves, circa 1730s: 263⁄4 in. (67 cm.) wide, 38 in. (96.5 cm.) long; pieced. Overall with some minor fading as expected with age. The ground with some minor areas of snagging/pulling. The polychrome embroidery floss with areas of rubbing, revealing the ground beneath in some spots. The edges with rolling and fraying.
An Italian fragment of a heavily brocaded chasuble, circa 1700: 211⁄8 in. (53.7 cm.) wide, 311⁄4 in. (79.4 cm.) long. Overall with some fading as expected with age and small spots of discoloration. Scattered areas of snagging to the ground. The metallic brocade with losses to the wrapped treads revealing base threads beneath. The edges with frayed, and some snagging/fraying to the selvage edges.
Three Continental cream and cafe-au-lait silk panels: 21 in. (53.3 cm.) wide, 34 in. (86.4 cm.) long, 21 in. (53.3 cm.) wide, 341⁄4 in. (87 cm.) long, and 21 in. (53.3 cm.) wide, 345⁄8 in. (87.9 cm.) long. Overall with some fading and discoloration including areas of spot staining. The ground with some abrasions, particularly running vertically from the top of each panel. The cream-silk threads with some areas of rubbing, snagging and fraying. The edges with some minor fraying (uneven). Presents well.
A silk brocade panel, with a bronze ground and metallic floral botehs, 18th century: 191⁄4 in. (48.9 cm.) wide, 265⁄8 in. (67.6 cm.) long. Pieced, well matched. The ground with scattered rubbing and abrasions, particularly along the creases. The edges with some fraying and rolling as expected with age. The reverse with the remnants of a gray backing.
Two panels of a Continental cafe-au-lait silk damask, 19th century: 215⁄8 in. (54.9 cm.) wide, 38 in. (96.5 cm.) long; 215⁄8 in. (54.9 cm.) wide, 37 in. (94 cm.) long. Overall with some minor fading as expected with age. The ground with areas of abrasions (particularly along the creases) and scattered small holes. The ends with some fraying (uneven).
