Lot Essay

In the early 19th century, artists trained in the Mughal tradition began to apply their skills to Western modes of architectural elevation. The two disciplines combined well, with Mughal attention to detail fusing with the influence of scientific rationalism in meticulous, decorative depictions of buildings.
