The canvas is supported on the reverse with an old glue lining. The pigment layer is stable and under a clear varnish that has slightly yellowed with age. Overall with scattered fine lines of craquelure. There is a small area of pigment loss to the upper right corner and white residue at lower center. A few additional scattered areas of minor disturbances. Under natural light, some touch-ups are evident. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals some scattered lines of strengthening, including to the trees, an a few touch-ups to the upper right edges. Further inspection is hindered by an opaque varnish. The painting can be hung in its present state. It is offered with a carved and gilt wood frame. Please note that Christie's does not guarantee the condition of frames.
