Lots 811-818 were created by Oscar de la Renta incorporating textiles from Mrs. Getty’s personal collection, inspired by her connoisseurship and style. Ann Getty wore the designs of Oscar de la Renta, from his own label as well as the Paris-based house of Balmain where he was head designer for ten years. The dresses and handbags were made with materials that reflect the depth, variety and boldness of Mrs. Getty’s collection. From swirls of embroidered ecru to delicate English gros point, sumptuous velvets and bold jacquards – these bolts of textiles have been reimagined and repurposed in a thoroughly singular and modern way, while also celebrating Mrs. Getty’s passion for beauty and detail.
We are grateful to Oscar de la Renta for generously donating their time and creative efforts to craft these pieces. Proceeds from the sale of these lots will benefit the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
