The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

With a clean, complete well-maintained appearance, structurally sound and ready to use. Pegged construction. With scattered age and construction cracks. Overall with general marks, nicks, surface scratches, tiny losses and repairs, typically concentrated around the joins, consistent with age and use. The current painted decoration has been refreshed, deliberately distressed and with scattered chips, losses to carving and painted surfaces revealing gesso and bare wood in areas as to be expected with age. The highlights very slightly different in tone, with the slightly taller chair slightly more orange, and the shorter chair slightly more red. Scattered evidence of a previous parcel-gilt decorative scheme. The upholstery with minor marks, faint discoloration and overall signs of wear, as to be expected from use. Overall with evidence of minor woodworm throughout, now inactive.
