The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Handsome, with a clean, complete well-maintained appearance, structurally sound and ready to use. Likely refitted, and formerly with doors, as evidenced by well-concealed plugged holes inside the upper section. With scattered age and construction cracks. Overall with general marks, nicks, surface scratches, tiny losses and repairs consistent with age and use, mainly to the lower shelves. Part solid mahogany and part veneered, the veneers with scattered fraying, lifting, and minor cracks with minor areas of losses and signs of infill and restorations. The bronzed decoration refreshed, as to be expected. The shelves to the upper sections each applied with a strip of later red and gilt faux-leather. The marble with the typical scratches, scuffs, nicks, 'nibbles', areas of infill and restoration, most pieces with some repaired breaks, consistent with age. Some minor areas of debris accumulation in recessed areas. One backboard at the lower section replaced, not visible from the front. A partial loss to one of the gadrooned square bases to the acanthus consoles at the base of the upper section, another lacking. The reverse inscribed in white chalk 'Marble damaged / in Several pieces / No Keys'. Overall attractive, ready to use.
