Lot Essay

Jessica Tandy (1909-1994) was an internationally renowned English-American actress. During the 1930s, she acted in many plays in London's West End, including playing the role of Queen Katherine opposite Laurence Olivier's Henry V in Tyrone Guthrie's 1937 production at the Old Vic. Tandy won a number of awards in her lifetime and became the oldest actress to receive the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Driving Miss Daisy in 1989.
