The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Structurally stable overall. Various knocks, scuffs, marks, scratches, dents and abrasions consistent with age and use. Some light fading/discolouration due to exposure to the sun, but generally the veneers have retained good colour. Minor losses, repairs and small infills to the tulipwood crossbanding and the marquetry as to be expected. Some other minor scattered splits and repairs to the veneers throughout. There is a repaired split to the lower panel of the left side of the secretaire, with the repairs visible to the interior. Some historical woodworm damage to the carcass, some infill and shrinkage with resultant splits to the veneers. The columns are not fixed at the top and are movable but not loose. There is one key for the drawers. One lock to one drawer is defective. There is no key for the fall-front but it holds closed fairly well when pushed closed. When open the fall hangs at quite a steep angle with no apparent stops or supports beneath. Some light mould deposits to the interior. Otherwise in fair furnishing condition.
