Overall, the commode presents inevitable scratches, marks, scuffs, abrasions, dents, knocks and discolouration consistent with age and use. There is evidence of old apparently inactive woodworm throughout. The top with shrinkage splits and minor lifting to the veneers, losses to veneers and damage caused by woodworm. Evidence of a restored shrinkage crack which runs diagonally through the whole width of the top towards the back edge. Scattered heat and water marks and blemishes. The body, overall with various losses to the veneers, discolouration in particular to the left-hand side. Each drawer with replaced handles. The frieze drawer previously with a lock. The keyhole to the bottom drawer has been filled. Some ink stains to the interior of the middle drawer. The back left-hand side foot missing a section of timber and the marquetry flower-head above it to the side lacking (that section of timber possibly replaced). Otherwise, structurally stable.
