Lot Essay

Two slightly taller archaistic gu vases, with Kangxi marks and of the period (1662–1722), are illustrated in H. Brinker and A. Lutz, Chinese Cloisonné: The Pierre Uldry Collection, Zurich, 1989, nos. 223 and 224. A cloisonné enamel archaistic gu-form vase of comparable height, bearing a Qianlong mark and of the period, was sold at Sotheby’s, Hong Kong, 29 April 2022, lot 3685.
