Lot Essay

Compare a smaller pair (22.2 cm.) of Qianlong mark and period millefleurs vases decorated with the trompe l’oeil ribbon but with the addition of Buddhist lion roundels, published in H. Brinker and A. Lutz, Chinesisches Cloisonné Die Sammlung Pierre Uldry, Zurich, 1985, no. 298.

A pair of cloisonné enamel double-gourd vases of a similar size to the current lot dated to the Qianlong period but unmarked and decorated with gourds were sold from the Arthur M. Sackler collection at Christie’s New York, 24 March 2011, lot 1621.
