The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of these pieces acquired after their initial manufacture.
Two dishes with Sparks label:
Some areas of restoration and touch-up to the ruby-ground reverse.
One dish with a few surface nicks / firing faults in the center of the white flowers.
Some age cracks to the enamels on both sides.
The gilding on the metal rims is worn off.
Circular paper label reading 'JOHN SPARKS TLD / 128, MOUNT STREET W / W1 / PR' on the base.
The four other dishes:
One dish with a small chip to the enamel right below the mouth rim on the reverse, an area with a few minute nicks and two very short cracks right below the mouth rim inside, as well as some faint short vertical hairlines going down from the mouth rim.
Another dish with some age cracks to the base and some deep scratches in the well.
Some very small chips / nicks to the enamel right below the mouth rim on the reverse.
A few short deep scratches.
Little wear to the gilding.
General age-related surface wear and scratches as can be expected.
