The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
The jifu: some loose threads, some minor tears and losses, the blue silk lining is slightly faded.
< br> The Japanese panel:
There are some tears, and areas of loss to the fabric. It is also slightly discoloured at places. It is possible that the silk may actually be Chinese but made into a priest's robe in Japan.
< br> The hanging ornament: the upper ruyi-head is worn and has numerous losses.
The suspended strips have some wear and small losses as may be expected. One strip of the banned is detached.
