We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture. - The original hole on the top of the saddle has been filled-in and associated with an area of restoration and repaint; this restoration has been damaged (losses of filled-in). - A hanging section of the rug is missing, the other one has been reweld. - Some areas of losses of enamel, some of them due to small shocks, a few of them have been filled-in. - Some cracks to the enamels. - The elephant's proper right ear is loose. - The proper left ear is restored. - The back left corner of the rug has been bent inward. - Both tusks have possibly been bent and possibly refixed with associated filled-in. - There is some pitting. - The small vase : it is most probably a marriage, with a few losses of enamel, some of which possibly touched-up/filled-in; a knock on a side of the ribbon associated with a small loss ; the gilt-bronze areas have been cleaned (traces of a cleaning product) ; the base plaque is replaced. General age-related surface wear as can be expected.
