A FAMILLE ROSE JARDINIÈRE
CHINA, 19TH CENTURY
The rectangular jardinière is decorated to the long sides with a bird perched on a branch of peony and flowering chrysanthemum, while the short sides are painted with a swallow resting on a lotus branch and a cockerel upon rockwork. The incurved corners are decorated with flower-vases and jardinières. There is an iron-red four character mark on the base.
