The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
The cup:
An approx. 8 cm. long hairline crack going down from the mouth rim with little associated overspraying inside.
A few chips to the glaze on the chilong's back legs.
A nick to the chilong's tail.
Some wear to the enamels, especially on the base.
Some small firing cracks.
The stand in good overall condition.
General age-related surface wear and scratches as can be expected.
The ewer and cover:
The cover with a few glaze burst bubbles to the rim.
There is a crack around the top section of the high handle.
The tip of the spout has been restored.
A few very minute nicks to a few feet.
General age-related surface wear as can be expected.
A circular paper label reading 'MARCHANT / KANGXI / 1662-1722 / LONDON' on the base.
