The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record the changes in the condition of these pieces acquired after their initial period of manufacture.
- All plates have age-related surface wear, light scratches and rubbing to the enamels and gilt as expected.
Pair of plates decorated with vases:
- Good overall condition with some light pitting.
Pair of tobacco leaf plates with phoenix decoration:
- Both plates have extensive overpainting and restoration, mainly to the interiors and exteriors of the rim.
- One plate has a hairline crack extending approx. 2 cm from the rim and a restored rim chip; the other plate has two small hairlines and a restored rim chip.
Pair of octagonal plates:
- Both plates have fritting to the rim and a few small shallow rim chips, the largest measuring 0.5 x 0.2 cm.
Pair of plates with European figures on horseback:
- In good overall condition.
Pair of dishes with openwork rims:
- In good overall condition, one with a small chip to the underside of the rim.
- Both with paper labels, one reads "Mottahadeh New York Ching Chien Lung, 13 184/2 5200, 268 EO; the other reads "268 EO China, Chien Lung".
