The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of these pieces acquired after their initial manufacture.
Jar 1:
- There are some very minute nicks to the cover's rim.
- There is a small flat surface chip to the cover's finial.
- The cover's inner rim is slightly warped.
- There is an approx. 8 cm. long vertical hairline going down from the mouth rim.
- There is a star-crackle inside the body (not going through the glaze).
- There are some surface scratches.
Jar 2:
- A large section of the body and neck has been broken in several pieces and restored with associated overspraying and repainted areas.
- There is a small chip to the cover's finial.
- There is some fritting and some glaze chips to the cover's rim.
- There is a star-crack to the base.
- There are some flat chips to the mouth rim.
Jar 3:
- There is a small chip to the inner rim of the cover and an old nick to the rim.
- The cover's finial has been detached and restored to the cover with overspraying.
- There is a restored Y-shaped crack to the cover which is associated with the broken finial.
- A large V-shaped section of the neck and body has been broken and restored with associated overspraying.
- There is an approx. 15 cm. long hairline going down from the mouth rim, which has been restored with associated overspraying.
- There is a small star-crack to the body.
Jar 4:
- There are some small chips and some fritting to the cover's rim.
- There is a nick to the cover's finial.
- A large section of the neck has been restored with associated overspraying and repainted areas (the restoration does not allow us to determine the extent of the damage).
- There are four star-cracks to the body only visible inside.
- There is an approx. 5 cm. long hairline going down from the mouth rim, which is hidden by the restoration of the neck.
- There is fritting (some extensive) to the rims on all jars and covers.
All jars and covers with general age-related surface wear and scratches as can be expected.
