The horse is an auspicous animal and has a long history as a symbol of power, energy and prestige in China. The present lot may be compared with a pair of jadeite horses gifted as a wedding present to the late H.R.H. Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, by the Government and People of Hong Kong and sold at Christie's London, 14 June 2006, lot 464.
