We have sought to record changes to the material condition of these books acquired after their initial manufacture.
- There are selected points of very slight wear and discolouration in the volumes in this lot.
- One set of the Shizhuzai jianpu (Ten Bamboo Studio Catalogue of Letter Paper) has been numbered in Chinese in pencil on lower right of each cover.
- The name ‘G. Heidlansen’ is inscribed in the back pages of the Rong Bao Zhai Xin Ji Shi Jian Pu and one of the sets of Shizhuzai jianpu.
- Inside the case of Tōan-zō shogafu there is a bookplate, reading ‘Otto Rümmel, Berlin, Nr. Ch.97.15’.
- Inside the case of Seito Seisho there is a bookplate reading ‘Otto Rümmel, Berlin, Nr. O.132.10’, a hand written dedication in ink in German to ‘My dear Christiane, on her 24th birthday’ dated 1 January 1950’ and a dedicatory bookplate from Hyojiro Hatta.
