The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
The 'ladies' jar:
-There is a V-shaped section to the mouth rim which has been off and re-stuck, with associated hairlines and overpainting extending from the mouth rim to the body.
-There is another area to the body with several pieces which have been out and restored, with associated long cracks, losses and overpainting.
-There are several star cracks to one side of the body, mostly visible from the interior.
-There are small chips to the rims.
The 'birthday' jar:
-There are some chips to the underside associated with firing flaws.
-The mouth and foot rims have probably been polished down slightly.
The cover:
-There are chips to the rims.
-There are a few small areas which may have been restored, not clearly visible under daylight or UV light.
