This robe would have been worn on formal court occassions. It is finely worked in couched gold thread with nine five-clawed dragons chasing the flaming pearl of immortality amongst clouds and fire scrolls and various auspicious and Buddhist emblems including a basket of peaches, cranes, shou characters, bats and swastikas.
