Lot Essay

The Eight Buddhist Emblems, also known as the Bajiaxiang, decorate the inside rim of the bowl and include the wheel, the conch, the canopy, the umbrella, the lotus flower, the vase, the fish, and the knot. The base of the bowl bears an apocryphal Ming dynasty Chenghua mark.
