Lot Essay
The rectangular plaque is inscribed with the text Zhuzi Zhi Jia Ge Yan, 'Master Zhu's Household Rules', a morally didactic text on how to run a household authored by Zhu Bolu (1627-1698). The end of the calligraphy states that this was made during the tenth year of Guangxu with production supervised by Buguo Zhai, the Hall of Making Amends, followed by the red seal mark of this hall.
