In celebration of the Chinese Spring Festival, Christie’s London will kickstart the new year with an online auction featuring a refreshing selection of Chinese art sourced from private English collections, most of which have not surfaced on the market in recent years. One distinguished London collection features over 90 lots, revealing this collector’s passion for ceramics, scholar’s objects, snuff bottles and hardstone carvings dating to the Ming, Qing and Republic periods, which were lovingly amassed between the 1980s-1990s. Rounding out the auction are the Mrs. Elizabeth Attridge (1934-2018) Collection of Early Jades, followed by further European collections. Bidders will be spoilt for choice with the broad range of artworks offered, from archaic Neolithic jades to modern painting and calligraphy by masters such as Zhao Shao’ang (1905-1998).

Bidding begins on 14 February at 2 PM GMT.
Lots 1 to 96 begin closing lot by lot on 20 February at 2 PM GMT.
Lots 97 to 151 begin closing lot by lot on 21 February at 2 PM GMT.
