We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
⁃ The paper surfaces of both the painting and calligraphy are slightly undulating.
⁃ There are scattered points and vertical streaks of very slight discolouration across the paper surface of the painting, though not of the calligraphy.
⁃ There is a very small crease in the upper right corner of the paper of the painting.
⁃ The frame measures 49.5 x 99 cm.
⁃ The colours of the painting are clear and well preserved. The stark contrast between the bright white of the bird’s plumage and the splashed ink of its wing is even more striking in person than seen on the published image.
