Details
The group comprises eight ink cakes of varying shapes, each decorated with dragons, mythical beasts, or archaistic motifs. Some are with inscriptions reading Xiangyin Zuoshi, which refers to General Zuo Zongtang (1812-1885). All in the black lacquered box with fitted compartments. The cover of the box wth an inscription reading ba bao qi zhen ('The Eight Mysterious Treasures'), enclosed by a floral scroll border.
