The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record the changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
From left to right:
The first:
- a small polished chip to the exterior of the mouth rim and a minute nick to the mouth rim
- a fine firing crack encircling the interior
The second:
- a few minute nicks to the foot
The third:
- a few minute nicks to mouth rim
- chips to the edges of two feet and other small minute nicks to feet
- some short firing cracks to the base, which are inherent to manufacture
- scratches and surface wear, particularly to the mouth rim
The fourth:
- a few minute nicks to mouth rim
- small chip to the edge of the handle
The fifth:
- an area of kiln grit adhesion on the base
