The comb is embelished on one side with two birds flanking a flower in cabochon rubies and a rose-cut diamond at the center within gold wire.The gold on either side of the teeth has an inscription, now illegible.

The decorations on the present jade comb can be compared to an example previously owned by the notable collector of Mughal jade and rock crystal objects, Colonel Charles Seton Guthrie, now in the Victoira and Albert Museum collection, accession #02545(IS).
