Each dish is decorated to the interior in bright enamels and gilt with the arms of Van Gellicum surrounded by a floral band. The exterior is painted with red flower heads.

A related, slightly smaller pair of Chinese Imari plates (19.7 cm diam.) with the Van Gellicum arms was sold at Christie's New York, 24-25 June 2010, lot 402.
