Details
Each dish is decorated in bright enamels with two pheasants perched amongst rocks and peonies surrounded by a trellis border interspersed with floral cartouches. The rim is further embellished with a seeded prunus border inset with cartouches enclosing precious objects. The vases are each applied to the neck with gilt-decorated moulded Buddhist lion handles and two sinuous qilin. Each body is decorated in mirror image with two gilt-bordered panels enclosing figural scenes divided by flowers and butterflies.
The vases: 9¼ in. (23.5 cm.) high
The dishes: 8¾ in. (22.2 cm.) diam.


Provenance
Acquired in the first half of the 20th century, then by descent within the family.
