The group comprises: a dish decorated with precious objects; three dishes decorated with peony and bamboo sprays; two 'scrolling peony' dishes; a dish decorated to the centre with two ladies and a boy, the rim decorated with four panels enclosing scholars and attendants; a pair of dishes decorated with a crane in flight and a crane perched on a pine tree next to blossoming prunus by a pavilion with figures in a mountainous river landscape; a plate and a charger each decorated with figures in boats in a mountainous river landscape; and a Japanese Arita dish decorated with pomegranate and finger citron sprays to the interior surrounded by panels enclosing alternating flowers and precious objects.
The largest, 16⅜ in. (42.2 cm.) diam.

Acquired in the first half of the 20th century, then by descent within the family.

The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

We have sought to record changes in the condition of these pieces acquired after their initial manufacture.

The 'precious objects' dish:
- There are two sections to the rim which have been broken off (12.2 cm. wide), one of which has been re-stuck.
- There is a third section of the rim that has been restored using composite material and overpainted.
- There are chips and bruises to the rim (the largest approx. 1 cm.).
- The dish is 9 in. (22.7 cm.) diam.

The 'peony and bamboo' dishes:
- One of the dishes has some fine glaze crackles to the interior.
- The dishes have various scattered nicks and shallow chips to the rims, the largest chip measuring approx. 0.6 x 0.6 cm.
- One dish has a glaze hairline extending approx. 1.6 cm. from the rim.
- The dish is 8 7/8 in. (22.5 cm.) diam. and 9 in. (22.7 cm.) diam.

Two 'scrolling peony' dishes:
- There is a crack to the rim (approx. 4.7 cm. long).
- The dishes have various scattered rim chips, the largest measuring approx. 1.8 x 0.4 cm.
- The dishes are 8 7/8 in. (22.5 cm.) diam.

The 'ladies and boy' dish:
- There is a crack to the base and a crack to the rim (the longer approx. 10.3 cm.).
- The dish is 9 in. (22.8 cm.) diam.

The 'crane landscape' dish:
- One of the dishes has a short hairline to the rim (the longer approx. 5 cm. long) and a firing flaw to the base.
- The other dish has scattered nicks and rim chips, the largest measuring 2.5 cm. long.
- One dish has traces of paint to the foot.
- The dishes are 11 1/4 in. (28.7 cm.) diam.

The smaller 'mountain landscape' plate:
- There is a crack to the rim (approx. 6.5 cm. long).
- There are a few frits and scattered tiny chips to the underside of the rim.
- The plate is 14 1/4 in. (36.3 cm.) diam.

The larger 'mountain landscape' charger:
- There is a section re-stuck to the rim (approx. 10 cm. wide) with an associated hairline (approx. 4.3 cm. long).
- There is a thin crack to the rim (approx. 6.5 cm.) with a small associated loss.
- The charger is 16 3/8 in. (42.2 cm.) diam.

The Arita dish:
- The dish appears to be in overall good condition.
- The dish is 12 1/4 in. (31 cm.) diam.
