FROM THE COLLECTION OF HENRI RIEUNIER (1833-1918)
AN IRON-RED AND GILT-DECORATED PORCELAIN BOWL
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The exterior of the bowl is decorated with a five-clawed dragon and a phoenix, emerging from waves, around a flaming pearl amidst auspicious clouds. The base has an apocryphal six-character Qianlong mark.
7⅞ in. (20 cm.) diam.

Provenance:
Collection of Henri Rieunier (1833-1918), a highly decorated French marine officer, brought back from Asia at the end of the 19th century, and thence by descent in the family.
