A PALE CELADON JADE PLAQUE
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
Of rectangular form, one side is carved with a lady playing the flute accompanied by a phoenix, and the other side with a lotus and a verse (pentameter) jiao yun shui ju lu. It possibly alludes to Nongyu, the musician daughter of Spring and Autumn period Duke Qin of Mu, whose name yu is incarnated in the material of this plaque.
