A SMALL MING CELADON AND RUSSET JADE DOG AND A SMALL WHITE AND RUSSET JADE RAM
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644) AND 19TH CENTURY
The recumbent dog is carved with the head turned to one side and a bifurcated tail; the stone is of a greenish-celadon tone with bright russet and darker brown areas. The ram is carved with the legs tucked under the body and the head facing forwards, with the mouth holding a lingzhi spray which supports a yin yang symbol; the stone is of a pale tone with pale brownish areas.
The larger 1⅝ in. (4.2 cm.) long
