The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
The large vase:
- the mouth and foot rims are later mounted with metal
- there are some small chips/nicks to the edges and raised decoration
The small vase:
- there are some damages and elements missing to the relief decoration (probably originally a chilong) and the surface has been polished
- there are a few chips to the foot rim that have been polished
- there are some nicks/chips to the rims and extremities, the largest measuring 0.8 cm. x 0.3 cm.
- there is a tiny bruise to the edge of the tassel measuring 0.4 cm. x 0.2 cm.
Both:
- some surface wear and scratches as expected
The condition of lots sold can vary widely due to factors such as age, previous damage, restoration, repair, and wear and tear. The nature of the lots sold means that they will rarely be in perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
