TWO TIBETO-CHINESE GILT-BRONZE BUDDHIST FIGURES
18TH CENTURY
The figure of Amitayus is seated in vajrasana on a separately cast lotus base with his hands resting in dhyanamudra. The figure is modelled with a serene expression and is wearing a dhoti and jewels. The figure of Manjushri is represented seated in vajrasana on a lotus base, holding a sword in the right hand and a flowering lotus stem and a scroll in the left. The bejewelled figure wears a dhoti and a tiara.
6⅝ and 7¼ in. (16.8 and 18.5 cm.) high

Collection of Rolf Alfred Stein (1911-1999), a distinguished scholar, and thence by descent.
