The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
The brush pot:
- There is some small areas of flecking to the enamels and some rubbing to the gilt decoration.
The box and cover:
- There is a tiny chip to the inner mouth rim of the box.
- There is some general age related surface wear and rubbing to the enamel.
The figure:
- The head and the neck have been off and re-stuck with associated losses and visible cracks to the left ear and hand.
- There is some minor flecking to the enamel and general age related surface wear.
The censer:
- There are several cracks to the edges, the largest measuring approx. 3 cm. with some small areas of over-painting.
- There is an area of loss to the reticulated section of one side with some associated cracks.
- There is some general age related surface wear and rubbing to the gilding.
The bowl:
- There is a chip to the mouth rim, measuring approx. 1 cm. at the widest point.
- There is some general age related surface wear, rubbing to the gilding and some minor flecks to the enamels.
The condition of lots sold can vary widely due to factors such as age, previous damage, restoration, repair, and wear and tear. The nature of the lots sold means that they will rarely be in perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
