The vase is decorated with leafy branches forming the characters Fu, Lu and Shou - prosperity, status and longevity - bearing numerous peaches. The base has an apocryphal six-character Wanli mark in underglaze blue within a double-circle.

The lots were acquired in Beijing in the 1950s, when the collector served as an official at a Nordic Embassy. Following the trend of many Western diplomats stationed in Beijing at the time, he started to collect Chinese works of art to furnish his family home.
