The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of these pieces acquired after their initial manufacture.
The candlestick with the figure with the left hand up:
- There are several sections which have been reattached, including: the upper and middle drip pans; the neck; the right celestial scarf; the left leg; and the right foot.
- There are two old repairs, one to the upper band and the other to the reverse of the skirt (the larger approx. 2.5 cm.)
- There is a loss to the tip of the left celestial scarf, and a loss to one of the sides of the stand (approx. 3.5 cm. long) with an associated crack (approx. 2.5 cm. long).
The candlestick with the figure with the right hand up:
- The upper drip pan has been reattached.
- There is a T-shaped crack to the neck (approx. 4 cm. long).
- There is a small hole to the bronze by the foot of the dragon (approx. 0.1 cm. diam.)
- The bottom edge of the reverse of the skirt has been slightly polished.
Both candlesticks:
- The upper drip pans are mounted with a modern screw fixing.
- There are nicks and dents and tarnishing to the wire inlay consistent with age.
