Details
The two larger square dishes are painted with narrative scenes from Xixiang Ji 'The Western Chamber'. The bases are decorated with a bat, peach and other flowers. The smaller pair are painted with further narrative scenes with a scholar on horseback with his attendant and a warrior. The bases with two-character shang xin seal marks, which can be translated as 'appreciate from the heart’.
The larger pair, 4⅛ x 4⅛ in. (10.5 x 10.5 cm.)
