The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
Both boxes:
- some losses with associated repair along the foot
- base with expected surface abrasion- mouth rims have been refreshed
One cover:
- A filled area with associated losses and an area of repair to one side, approx. 1 ¾ in. (4.4 cm.) long
- a small section of loss with associated repair to the upper edge
- another section of loss with associated repair to the mouth
One box:
- a fine crack and a few shallow chips to the collar
- losses with associated repair along the foot
The other cover:
- a section of loss to one leaf near the edge
- a small area of loss to the upper edge near a leafy stem
- a re-stuck section and a crack to the side with associated repair to the upper edge
- a few other short cracks on the sides and mouth rim
The other box:
- some losses and a chip to the outer mouth rim
- a few shallow chips to the collar
- a few age cracks to the base, some with associated small losses
Both covers:
- a few minor nicks to the edges of carved decoration- a few small chips and nicks along the edges on the interior- mouth rims have been refreshed
