FURTHER DETAILS
Wang Naizhuang (1929-), a native of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, was born in a family steeped in scholarship. His paternal grandfather was Wang Fuan, one of the founders of the famed Xiling Seal Art Society in Hangzhou (one the most important engraving and epigraphy associations in Chinese history). He became interested in painting as a child, and has since studied Western painting at Shanghai Art Academy. He has also studied under modern masters such as Xu Beihong and Wu Zuoren while enrolled in the Central Academy of Art. During the 1960s, Wang Naizhuang also studied ink painting with Li Kuchan. His works display an amalgamation of Chinese and Western techniques, with an abundance of individual flair for details.
