Details
The vase is carved with twin openwork handles to the neck. The flattened sides are carved with two birds amongst prunus branches, and a pavilion amongst bamboo and pine trees, separated by a poetic inscription reading shudian meihua tiandi xin.

Lot Essay

The inscription eulogises the beauty of prunus flowers in winter, and comes from an excerpt from the winter portion of Si shi du shu le (The Joy of Reading in Four Seasons) by the Yuan poet Weng Sen.
