Lot Essay

Gao Ke (1956-), whose family was originally from Shanxi province, was born in Anhui province. He received his masters at Nanjing University of the Arts and majored in Chinese classical painting. Currently he serves as Associate Dean at Jinling Art Academy and is a member of the China Artists Association and president of the Jiangsu Comic Association. His paintings show a unique style that is influenced by illustrations found in traditional Chinese novels, as well as the flare of folk art.
