Lot Essay

Wang Gongzhu (1923-2007), a native of Haimen, Jiangsu province, was the oldest son of Wang Geyi (1897-1988). He served as Board Director of the Wu Changshuo Research Center. While he was in Chongqing, he received instructions by masters such as Pan Tianshou (1897-1971) and Xu Beihong (1895-1953). His paintings, which feature spirited brushstrokes, were frequently exhibited in China.
